We are happy to announce the new and more flexible CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) programs for 2010. CSA’s are wonderful venues for consumers and farmers to provide each other with many worthwhile advantages over conventional forms of food production and distribution. We believe that sustainable agriculture and the continued availability of truly wholesome food depends on this kind of cooperation. We are determined to provide the best vegetables, herbs, and eggs for you and your family.
Why join Community Organics CSA program?
Just picked produce tastes better and has higher nutritional value. Most store bought produce, including organic, has spent a week or more in transit before you take it home. Our goal is to get it from the living plant to your table as fast as possible.
Most of the varieties we grow are heirloom and open-pollinated. They have been handed down for years because they taste great. Diversity as well as flavor usually gets sacrificed in hybrids developed primarily for long shelf life, high yield, and uniform appearance.
We are Certified Naturally Grown. This means that you can be assured that no synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, or genetically modified seeds are used here. CNG farmers are committed to improving the soil each year and are held accountable by their peers. For more information on CNG see their website at www.naturallygrown.org.
We pay close attention to the mineral balance of our soil. Years of conventional farming has depleted our land of beneficial microorganisms and trace elements. We have invested in replenishing these. Our food cannot be rich in nutrients if their building blocks aren’t in the soil.
Support of local, sustainable farming also reduces our energy consumption, improves our local environment, and more. Visit http://foodroutes.org/whycare.jsp for an overview of the benefits of supporting local farming.
We see this venture as a joint effort with all of you. Your thoughts, ideas, and vision are welcome and encouraged. There is much we can do together. We hope you will join us.

Full Choice CSA programs for 2010 Members can choose what they get each week.
Members will have the first opportunity to order items of limited availability. That’s before we offer the rest to the general e-mail list or a farmer’s market.
Members will submit an annual commitment payment to fund their account. Each weekly order’s value will be deducted from the balance. Any remaining balance at the end of the year can be applied to the next year’s program.
Members are not limited to the amount they can purchase with their annual commitment payment. As their fund runs down they may replenish their account as they choose.
Members will help determine what is grown.
Weekly orders can be placed by e-mail or telephone.
We will continue to offer a pick-up point in Georgetown, Dover/Camden, Lewes, Milford, and in Rehoboth Beach. Pick-ups at the farm can be arranged as well. Members will not be limited to a single pick-up location.
Choose either Full Year or Six Month program: Full Year Full Choice Program - this is for those wanting to participate for all 12 months. Program 1 member’s orders will be filled first throughout the year. There is a $400 enrollment fee, good towards produce orders at any time. Six Month Full Choice Program - members will participate in the CSA from May 1st through October 31th. There is a $250 enrollment fee good towards orders in those 6 months and at other times as availability allows. Value CSA Program for 2010 The Value program, as the name implies, offers our produce at a lower cost. This program is designed for those that enjoy most vegetables and like to try new things. You will receive a selection of the farm's available produce each week at a significant savings.
New program features include: Members may reschedule up to 2 pick-ups, for vacation, etc. Rescheduled weeks will be added at the end of the normal program dates. Members may specify one preference for the season, such as; “no eggplant please”, “extra broccoli when available please”, or “not too many potatoes please”.
